Press Announcement- May 6, 2005 Sanctuary: Proposed Master-Planned Community is a Model for Smart Planning Sanctuary: Proposed Master-Planned Community is a Model for Smart Planning
The Grupe Company has introduced a preliminary plan for Sanctuary, a new mixed-use infill residential master-planned community in Stockton.
"Sanctuary will be our most beautiful and innovative community to date," said Kevin Huber, Chief Executive Officer of The Grupe Company. "Every aspect of the community has been designed to provide a superior quality of life. Just as our concept of master planning has changed and evolved over the years, so have the kinds of amenities we offer. At Sanctuary, we are planning a range of amenities for active living and lifelong learning that are truly unprecedented."
Sanctuary's approximately 1969-acre master plan is based on Smart Growth principles that make it possible for communities to grow in a way that supports economic development and jobs, strong neighborhoods with a range of housing styles, as well as commercial and transportation options that help support a cleaner environment. The community has been designed to encourage interaction with the surrounding neighborhoods and make it easy for residents to walk or bicycle to community destinations.
"Our philosophy for Sanctuary is to accommodate the needs of the times," said company Chairman of the Board, Greenlaw "Fritz" Grupe, Jr. "In this case, that means looking at ways to curb urban sprawl and reduce pollution, while building a beautiful community where people can enjoy a healthy environment that meets their lifestyle needs. The Delta is a natural treasure and the community's location on its waterways is an essential influence in our planning and design."
